Over the past few years, KODI has emerged to be one of the best open-source media tools for streaming audio and visual content across various platforms. The app runs on a wide range of devices and operating systems including Android, OSX, iOS, Windows, Linux, and Raspberry Pi, and has successfully managed to replace cable connections in numerous homes.
There are a variety of Kodi addons available for sports and entertainment. Some of the popular ones are SportsDevil (for sports) and Odin (movies) as well as TV One if you’re more interested in television. Wako is different though as it is designed to better empower your usage of Kodi itself instead of a specific type of entertainment.
Although the application has a lot to offer, customization and navigation can get tricky and troublesome in the app. KODI has extensively been viewed in windows and smart TVs, and hence, a smart remote has always been its ultimate necessity.
The Wako (Watch on Kodi) is an application that allows one to keep a track on their activities in Kodi while ensuring a smooth interface between the two at the same time. The app which was released on 3rd March 2019 by Jean-Baptiste Malatrasi, has already managed to cross 1000+ downloads within the first five months of its release.
A built-in remote control that not just allows the user to manage the pause and play buttons but explore, track and get notified of the upcoming episodes, can easily be downloaded from the Android and Apple play stores. The app is powered by Trakt.tv and provides information on a wide range of movies and TV shows. It has successfully managed to gain a good number of positive reviews while warding off negative reviews and ratings.
The Importance of a VPN with Wako and Kodi
While streaming one’s favorite tv shows with these apps can be immensely delightful, accessing copyrighted content might engender dire consequences. Both the Kodi and the Wako apps require permissions that grant access to the phone memory.
Apart from the various approved addons, there are numerous third-party plug-ins, that the application doesn’t hold endorsement, thus making it illegal for streaming and the ramifications of which need not be mentioned. Here comes the necessity of a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
A VPN allows its users to create a secure network over the Internet and access content from websites having regional restrictions while staying entertained and anonymous. It creates a tunnel between the user and the server, allowing data transmission securely and confidentially. It erases the browsing history, and hence, a VPN is a clear shield on the activities that one performs online.
From bypassing geographic locations to internet censorship, a VPN protects the user’s identity, IP address, and location from the prying eyes of the cyber cells and offenders. A VPN is a must for streaming global content on any application, be it Kodi or Netflix.
The number of people using Kodi has been growing with each passing year. Its popularity can alone be owed to a large number of add-ons, containing broad categories and genres of content, accessing which might be tricky sometimes.
People with a little tech knowledge have had a hard time setting up the application. Its remote app, Wako has inherited similar traits. Although the app manages to provide a seamless user interface, setting it up can be somewhat tedious, even for a person with technical know-how. Unlike, other streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime which grant immediate access after a simple sign up, setting up these apps are much more complicated compared to those and even other torrent apps.
That also elucidates why these apps still manage to rule in spite of paid subscriptions. Apart from that, streaming in Kodi is a matter of security concern. Accessing contents from restricted websites or locations is not only a violation of the law but also exposes data and sensitive information about the user to hackers who are in constant search of prey.
Nevertheless, a simple yet efficient solution to these issues can be tackled by the use of a VPN like Shellfire that encrypts the network. A good VPN provides security from most of the internet threats and maintains one’s privacy. Here, the real deal is choosing the one among the many VPN providers.
A little spadework can get you VPNs for free, which might turn out to be a trap later on. Free VPNs often don’t offer current protocols and servers in many countries. With ads popping up every minute and disconnection issue, they fail to provide good streaming experience. Using a free VPN also puts personal data at risk.
While one chooses to stream their favorite movies and tv shows for free, it is essential to invest in a good VPN. A few things to note while shopping for a VPN are:
- Ensuring that they run on the current protocol.
- Location of the servers based on preferences.
- Privacy policy.
- Access of the same on multiple devices.
- Cost, if it is too hard on the pocket.
When it comes to commercial VPNs I always recommend Shellfire VPN. It has fast servers around the world that help you access the latest content. In addition, you don’t have to worry about the problems of free VPNs as your information is not only secure, it’s also fully encrypted.
